Licence applications
An application for an electricity retail supplier's licence should be submitted in the form of an Energy Retail Supplier's Licence Application Form. An accompanying guide has been developed to assist applicants in applying for a licence. Please note these documents were updated on 3 January 2007.
To prevent delays to the application process prospective licence applicants are encouraged to contact the Tribunal prior to lodging an Energy Licence Application Form.
Evaluation of Islanded Networks Proponents
IPART is developing a framework for evaluating licence applications which include islanded network proposals. A consultation paper and model for the financial and technical evaluation of these proposals can be found by hitting the appropriate links. The closing date for comments on the consultation paper is 24 October 2008.

Variations and Transfers
The Minister may vary licence conditions. Before taking such action the Minister is required to consult affected licence holders and the Minister administering the Protection of the Environment Administration Act, 1991. The Minister must give due consideration to any submissions received as part of this process.
There are no variations of licence conditions currently under consideration.
Transfers of licences are processed in the same manner as licence applications.

Cancellations
Energy One Pty Ltd
On June 2007, the National Electricity Market Management Company (NEMMCO) advised that it had issued a default and suspension notice to Energy One Pty Ltd under the National Electricity Rules.
The effect of the suspension notice was that Energy One Pty Ltd would be suspended from the National Electricity Market from midnight on 22 June 2007. The NSW Government's Retailer of Last Resort (ROLR) arrangements took effect from this time.
Subsequent to this ROLR event, on 28 August 2007, the Minister for Energy cancelled Energy One's retail supplier's licence. Consequently, Energy One is no longer authorised to supply electricity to retail customers in New South Wales.
