Licence Endorsements

Licence endorsements are separate instruments that may be attached to a retail supply licence. Currently there are two types of endorsements that have been made by the Minister:

  • a standard retail supplier's endorsement. Attachment of this endorsement makes the licensee a standard retail supplier for a specified supply district with all the rights and obligations this entails. For example, a person within a standard retail supplier's supply district may apply to the standard retail supplier to be supplied with electricity under terms and conditions that are set out in regulated standard supply contracts.
  • a Retailer of Last Resort (RoLR) endorsement. A RoLR is a supplier that may have customers transfer to it from another supplier that, for example, may have been suspended from the National Electricity Market.

An endorsement can be transferred by the Minister to another licensee without impacting the other conditions of the licence.

Currently, the following licensees have been endorsed as standard suppliers and retailers of last resort:

  • Country Energy
  • EnergyAustralia
  • Integral Energy
