Investigation into Prices for Water, Sewerage and Stormwater services provided by Sydney Water Corporation - From 1 July 2008
IPART sets maximum prices that can be charged for metropolitan water, sewerage and stormwater services.
The Premier, the Hon Morris Iemma, MP, and the Minister for Water Utilities, the Hon Nathan Rees, MP, have recently written to the Tribunal requesting that the Tribunal make a new price determination for Sydney Water Corporation’s monopoly services (see Letters below). In addition to considering the costs of traditional water, sewerage and stormwater services, the Tribunal has also been asked to consider the costs associated with a new desalination plant to be built to help secure Sydney’s water supplies. Additional costs associated with water recycling projects are also expected to feature as part of the Tribunal’s deliberations.
The Tribunal will be seeking to conclude its investigation by mid June 2008 to enable any changes in prices to take effect from 1 July 2008. A copy of an indicative timetable is set out in the timetables page. |
