Rate peg set for 2024-25

The Tribunal has set the rate peg for 2024-25 using a new methodology which includes forward-looking indicators to measure changes in councils’ base costs.

The new methodology has produced rate pegs that more accurately reflect the increase in costs for each council.

IPART welcomes new Tribunal member

IPART welcomes the appointment of former Australian Productivity Commissioner Jonathan Coppel for a five-year term.

Mr Coppel brings extensive experience in national and international economic institutions to his appointment, as IPART continues to help the people of NSW get safe and reliable services at a fair price.

Rate Peg Methodology Final Report

The Final Report on the rate peg methodology has been published, announcing significant changes set to apply from the 2024-25 financial year.  

We have also recommended the NSW Government commission an independent review of the financial model for councils in NSW.

The future of embedded networks in NSW

We held a stakeholder workshop in September on pricing methodologies for energy services supplied to embedded network customers.
