IPART has commenced work on its NSW retail electricity and gas markets monitoring reports for 2025-26.
Each year, we monitor and report on prices, competitive dynamics and the participation of households and small businesses in the NSW retail energy markets. The matters we must report on are specified in the National Energy Retail Law (NSW) 2012.
Consistent with recent years we will continue to report on new energy products and services, including virtual power plants and demand response programs.
We have published a Consultation Paper for our Energy Market Monitoring Reports. We want to hear views from a range of stakeholders including households, small businesses, consumer groups, industry associations, retailers and distribution networks on:
- our approach to energy market monitoring
- whether there are emerging issues we should explore in our Energy Market Monitoring Reports.
Stakeholders can make a submission to our Consultation Paper until 1 September 2026.
IPART will submit its Energy Market Monitoring Reports to the Minister for Energy in November 2026.
