We are reviewing Hunter Water’s 2022-2027 operating licence before it expires on 30 June 2027.
The licence sets the terms and conditions that Hunter Water must follow when providing water, wastewater and stormwater services to its customers across the Lower Hunter region. The licence requirements aim to protect customers, public health, the environment and service quality.
As part of our review, we will consider if the licence continues to work as intended, and understand if any changes are needed to reflect issues that have emerged since the licence was granted. We have prepared an issues paper that includes 20 questions to help you prepare your response to the paper.
We want to hear from customers, community members, government agencies, industry participants and other interested stakeholders. Submissions on the issues paper close on 4 September 2026.
Our review findings will help inform our recommendations to the Minister regarding what terms and conditions Hunter Water should be subject to under its next operating licence.
