NSW Government train, bus and ferry fares will rise by a weighted average of around 2 per centfrom July 1, under a determination released today by the Independent Pricing and RegulatoryTribunal (IPART).

Preliminary review in 2001. Extensive review from January 2002 under section 9(1)b of IPART Act 1992. Provides industry background and reviews regulatory framework, approaches to price regulation, fare levels and structure, and service quality.

IPART uses the taxi cost index model to measure the change in the costs of providing taxi services over the course of the year.
