The purpose of the Public Water Utility Audit Guideline is to provide a framework to help auditors to conduct operational audits of public water utilities efficiently and effectively.
In accordance with Section 31 of the Sydney Water Act, 1994 (NSW), the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal of New South Wales has completed the audit of Sydney Water’s compliance with the requirements of its 2010-2015 Operating Licence.

The Tribunal is required to report to the Minister by 31 October each year on licence compliance by water network and retail suppliers. The report is publicly released after being tabled in Parliament.
