John has had 32 years involvement in local government. He is a former head of the South Australian Government’s Office for State/Local Government Relations and prior to that the Local Government Association of South Australia.

He consults and conducts training courses nationally on local government financial issues in his own right and through Deloitte Access Economics, the Australian Centre of Excellence for Local Government and the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia.

He has written national guidance material for IPWEA and ACELG on infrastructure accounting, long-term financial planning, rating and charging and the role and use of debt. He also prepared reports for the NSW Independent Local Government Review Panel researching MSW local government rating and charging and financial sustainability issues.
