We undertake annual audits of Water NSW’s compliance with its operating licence. Monitoring Water NSW’s compliance with its operating licence is our function under the Water NSW Act 2014.
The current operating licence is the 2024-2028 operating licence. We undertook the first audit of Water NSW’s compliance with that licence in 2025. This year, we will complete our second audit of Water NSW’s compliance against its operating licence.
We partner with specialist auditors to undertake these audits and provide a report to the Minister on the audit 30 days after we receive a report from our auditor.
Prior to each year’s audit, we engage with stakeholders, including government agencies that Water NSW has regulated relationships with under its operating licence. We use this process to get stakeholder feedback on Water NSW’s performance against obligations under its operating licence. This feedback informs the audit scope for each year’s audit.
