On 1 September 2025, Tamworth Gas Networks Pty Limited applied to transfer a gas reticulator’s authorisation from Central Ranges Pipeline Pty Ltd. Tamworth Gas Networks Pty Limited and Central Ranges Pipeline Pty Ltd are wholly owned subsidiaries within the APA Group Limited corporate group.
A gas reticulator’s authorisation permits its holder to operate a distribution pipeline to convey natural gas to customers.
This authorisation covers the local government areas of Dubbo City Council, Gilgandra Shire Council, Liverpool Plains Shire Council, Mid‑Western Regional Council, Tamworth Regional Council, Warrumbungle Shire Council and Gunnedah Shire Council.
IPART assessed the application under the Gas Supply Act 1996 (NSW) and conducted a public consultation between 5 December 2025 and 19 January 2026, before providing its report and recommendation to the Minister for Energy on 20 February 2026.
On 3 March 2026, the Minister for Energy approved the transfer of the gas reticulator’s authorisation.
