The NSW Government has asked IPART to set appropriate maximum fares for private ferry services in Sydney, the Central Coast and NSW North Coast. The new maximum fares will apply from 1 January 2026.
The private ferry services covered by the review are:
- Brooklyn to Dangar Island
- Circular Quay to Lane Cove
- Cronulla to Bundeena
- Palm Beach to Mackerel Beach
- Scotland Island and Western Foreshore of Pittwater
- Woy Woy to Empire Bay
- Yamba to Iluka.
The NSW Government has also asked IPART to consider fares for ferry services on the Palm Beach to Ettalong route.

- private ferry service operators
- customers who use private ferry services.
We are seeking your feedback on our review
We have released a short paper that discusses what we have been asked to do and the key issues we need to consider. We are asking for your input to help us determine the maximum fares by making a submission on our Call for Submissions paper or by completing our short survey. We will consider all feedback we receive in setting maximum prices for private ferry services.
