We have published a Discussion Paper with an overview of market activity in 2023-24 and our proposed focus areas for monitoring the NSW biodiversity credits market this year.

The NSW Government has engaged IPART to monitor the performance of and competition within the biodiversity credits market for 3 years from 2022-23. This is the second year that IPART is reviewing the biodiversity credits market.

Our review of the credits market this year will continue to identify opportunities to improve its performance. Our findings and recommendations will consider the Government’s proposed reforms to the Scheme under the NSW Plan for Nature and, as well as progress made against the recommendations from our 2022-23 Annual Report. Our aim for this year is to continue monitoring key performance and competition indicators (covering both current and emerging issues), and to hear from stakeholders on market conditions and how future changes to the market can best be navigated.
