To support this, IPART has internal policies and processes for the adoption and use of AI, which apply to all IPART staff, Tribunal members, and contractors.
AI use
In line with NSW Government requirements, only authorised AI tools may be introduced and used in IPART’s Data Technology (DT) environment, and all IPART staff must be transparent about their use of AI and carefully review all outputs for accuracy and quality.

Uses and applications of AI are rapidly evolving, and IPART will assess new use cases in accordance with NSW government AI Assurance Framework before adopting them internally.
All decisions, draft and substantive report findings and recommendations are developed and reviewed by relevant subject matter experts and IPART staff.
Public interaction and impacts
IPART does not use AI in ways that the public may directly interact with, or be significantly impacted by, without human intervention.
IPART stakeholders attending online meetings (such as via MS Teams, Zoom) are notified if the meeting is being recorded and/or transcribed.
In addition, IPART manages the potential risk of unauthorised recordings at IPART meetings using AI bots through IPART’s Acceptable Use Policy,
